The sweater starts with a provisional cast-on at the center back and is then worked up, through short row shoulder shaping to the back neck, where the back is divided and each side is worked separately. The center neck is cast on and then worked around the neck to the front, where the band becomes part of the sweater front and is worked straight down. The live stitches are put aside on a spare needle and the second front is worked. The provisional cast on is removed, fronts and back are joined, and the bottoms of the sleeves are shaped using decreases. Because of the unique construction of this sweater, the sleeve circumference and body length can be easily modified.
