Cast on along the left edge, this striped shawl forms a wing shape by building one wedge upon another. Lace inserts are written so that you never have to break yarn or carry a long piece of your second color along the edge. Magic! The shawl is bound off with a reverse stockinette stitch i-cord which provides a strong edge while blending in perfectly to the garter stitch of the shawl. Overall, this shawl is a fantastically relaxing knit!

Note that different knitting styles seem to affect garter stitch more than other stitches; beware that you may need to purchase extra yardage or go down in needle size if you are a loose knitter. It is also possible to omit one of the wedge repeats without adversely affecting the shawl. When choosing to substitute yarns, be sure to purchase extra yardage, as the different spin and fiber content of the yarn may affect the amount of yardage used.
