Before I leave the house to walk my little dog, Nancy, I usually grab a shawl, just in case. How adaptable is a shawl; smaller than a cardigan or sweater, easy to throw on, easy to pop into your bag, stylish, warm … the list goes on. I love that the varieties of yarn ensure that we can have a shawl that is right for every day, whatever the weather throws at us and whatever the season. Knit in Miss Babs Damask, Spring into Fall is going to be your best friend, it is an easy to knit, easy to wear, top down, wide triangular shawl with bands of ‘interrupted’ garter stitch that remind me of the fences around the fields where I live. Between these bands are lace panels; reminiscent of the flowers on the bank. The view on my walk changes, almost on a daily basis, flowers come and go, leaves emerge, flourish, colour and fall, the crops change from year to year. Some fields have cows, some sheep, some alternate between the two. No matter the season, there is always a walk and a shawl. Spring into Fall is perfect for the days when it is warming up from winter, those fabulous, acid green, days of spring and right through the summer to the fading light and warm colours of autumn. Obviously, if you live in a climate that is warm all year round then you will be experiencing the Spring into Fall weather daily!
