Inspired by the sea and colourful seaside towns, the textured Shorelines asymmetrical shawl is a simple and fun pattern designed to use 100g of fingering weight / 4 ply yarn and 50g of fingering weight 4 ply sock scraps, or contrast colour(s).

The shawl is knit in stockinette for the first half, with the shaping taking place at the beginning and ends of the rows. The simple lace pattern then pulls the knitting into ‘waves’ which is the perfect opportunity to dig out those sock scraps and have a play with colours. Alternatively, you could choose 100g of colourful variegated yarn for the body of the shawl and knit the wave stripes in bold or neutral colours. It also works well with gradients and mini-skeins too – the possibilities are endless!

The resulting shawl is light and adaptable to wear, perfect for the changing seasons – or a stroll along the beach!
