Renaissance Fan was inspired by the fascinating feather fans of the 17th century.
It creates the illusion of a folding fan when used in a yarn with a high sheen, such as silk or tencel, or of the vanes of a feather when worked in a matte yarn such as cotton.
The shawl increases using a memorable and easy formula, gradually adding feather eyelets before resolving into a shower of smaller feathers in an edging that can be repeated to a much larger size.
- Beads (optional) are incorporated as a sneaky way to keep track of rows.
- Can be worked entirely from the written pattern, or from charts with some notes.
- Pattern rows are worked in the RS only.
