Mad Blood

$9.50

Mad Blood is a dramatic crescent shaped shawl positively dripping with lace, cables, beads and nupps. This shawl is inspired by the gorgeous ruby red colour of a beautiful yarn – a rich blue based red with just a hint of pink. Knitsch Sock: The Mad Blood Stirreth.

If you wish to substitute yarn, select a 3 or 4 ply (light / fingering) yarn in a solid colour, or with a hint of variegation.

The lace motifs in this shawl will challenge you as they are worked on both right and wrong side rows, while cables shift the fabric in unexpected directions. Nupp flowers and lines of decreases pick out lily motifs. Add beads, or don’t add beads – the choice is yours depending on how you like your mad blood to drip.

Please note, the shawl illustrated used approximately 508 metres (556 yards) of fingering weight yarn. However, almost all my testers used less yarn than that – generally around 450 metres. Nevertheless I would still recommend you have at least 510 metres of yarn available, just to be safe.

Regarding Beads: You will need approximately 800 beads for shawl as charted.
Take a look at some of my testers projects. Many of them placed additional beads to those shown in the charts – and I simply love them!

Regarding Yarn
If you are interested in this exact yarn please note that the colour was VERY difficult for my camera to capture correctly. The first picture is the truest colour, but still not quite right. See here: HRYC
