Here is Diamond Fizz, the third pattern in the Boos for Beginners Collection. This collection consists of a series of six patterns designed for those wishing to try lace or for those not overly confident using finer yarns, however each pattern will still be a very useful addition to any wardrobe – whether beginner or not! The collection is great value for money compared with buying the individual patterns and there will be at least one pattern that is totally exclusive to the collection.
Lace knitting is not scary; it is merely knitting with increases and decreases that create a pattern of holes in your fabric. Often lace is knit with a finer yarn but not tiny needles. This creates a light and airy fabric that, once blocked, looks intricate and pretty. It is so much easier than you think it will be! Though this is a collection aimed at those beginning lace knitting it is not a knitting course, tutorial or knitting encyclopedia.
Diamond Fizz is more detailed than the first shawls of the collection and there will be some new stitches to learn but nothing too challenging or scary. For knitters with more experience this pattern is simple but not boring and there are instructions for working either a stocking stitch body or an all over lace version. It is a very gentle pattern giving a beautifully romantic shawl that can be worn with jeans or a ball gown depending on the yarn chosen.
Diamond Fizz is a crescent shaped shawl suitable for either fingering weight or lace weight yarns. It is started from the top and worked down through a stocking stitch body that leads seamlessly into a lightly beaded lace section before the grand finale of the beaded lace border. Written as a one size pattern, the stocking stitch version of Diamond Fizz is easy to enlarge or reduce by repeating Chart 2 or working it fewer times but remember that yardage and bead requirements will differ.
