Coastal Highway is a long, drapey cardigan that’s sure to become a wardrobe staple as it looks great with a lot of outfits in all kinds of weather. Picture it with your favorite jeans, skirts or shorts. Check out the pockets and deep ribbing at the split hemline and sleeve cuffs.
Coastal Highway is worked top-down in a seamless manner and it’s finished as you go. Stability is built in as well so that it keeps its shape as you wear it (a lot). The top of the back yoke is worked first, then shoulders are worked along the slanted sides of the back yoke. Stitches are picked up for the yoke fronts and the rest of the yoke and body is worked back and forth as one piece until the hem ribbing is split at the sides. The pocket bottoms are set in right before the hem ribbing is started and the sides of the pockets are easily stitched down after blocking.
Collar stitches are picked up from the cast on edge to add stability to the neckline since we don’t want that to stretch out.
Coastal Highway will look great in any yarn that meets gauge (heavy fingering to DK) and has good drape and stitch definition.
