Knit with two contrasting colors in a beautiful palate from The Fiber Seed, this hat is a features simple stripes with a fun little stitch to keep things interesting.
I have modified the classic gull stitch by combining it with slip stitch color-work and a little trick that makes the vertical detail in this pattern work. I have decided to call this new variant the Sandpiper stitch. Once you have done one round of the lifted stitch technique you will be an old pro. The crown decrease gets a little fiddly – but the results are well worth it.
