Oh, won’t you say we’ll put on the day,
And we’ll talk in present tenses
This top-down, half-crescent shaped shawl is dotted with a textured scallop stitch in a pattern that is easy to memorize and easy to wear. Knit up in a merino-silk blend yarn to a loose gauge, the drape is incredible, and the shawl is warm enough to take the chill off a summer evening, but light enough to be worn as a scarf.
Simple increases to the k2 p2 ribbing give it a polished finish that behaves more like a very not-so-ruffly ruffle rather than a tight ribbing. Make it in a laceweight yarn for super-drapey shawl, or in a true fingeringweight for a more substantial fabric.
Finished size: Approximately 31 ½ “ deep, 84” along the curved lower edge of the shawl. Be aware that a tight gauge on the garter edging will cause the upper edge of the shawl to curve more, whereas a slightly looser edging will stretch further & result in a slightly straighter upper edge to the shawl.
