The wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle; a space to think, to be free, to clear your head and just be. A country walk, a night sky with no light pollution, a swim in a natural pool or lake, feeling the grass under your feet … Beautiful Solitude. You don’t need to be alone to enjoy it; you just need to be as one, in tune, on the same wavelength, united – balanced.
Beautiful Solitude is a crescent shaped shawl that is a wonderfully quick and therapeutic knit. Worked in one colour it is understated and quietly sophisticated and when using two colours a whole world of wonderful colour combinations opens up allowing it to be knit time and again looking different each time. You will need two skeins of fingering weight yarn, I have used merino singles, for the one colour version and one skein of each colour for the two colour version. Beautiful Solitude is worked from the top down with bands of garter stitch interspersed with rows of star stitches that are highlighted with the second yarn. This main body is complemented by the dramatic border, worked in the second colour, that ties the whole shawl together to create unity and balance.
